A little help.
Getting comfortable with Riiiff.
Riiiff is made by Jason Csizmadi at DiscoMoose. It’s coming soon to iPhone and iPad.
What do I need?
An iPhone or iPad, and an Apple Music subscription on it. Riiiff plays music from Apple Music; it has no music of its own. Without a subscription you can still browse and add music, but pressing play shows “Ask a grown-up. Apple Music needs a subscription to play.”
How do I get into the grown-up area?
Hold the small gear until the ring fills, then confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. A quick tap only wiggles it. There’s no separate PIN to remember.
How do I add music?
In the grown-up area, open Add music, search Apple Music and tap the plus next to an artist, an album or a song. It shows up on your kid’s home screen right away. Explicit versions are hidden from the search, so they can’t be added by accident.
What are packs?
Packs are hand-picked lists such as Disney, Pixar, Bluey, Sing-along and Bedtime. Turn one on and your kid can play anything in it and keep the songs they like. Turn it off and it goes away.
What is a wish?
When your kid looks for something that isn’t in their music, they can wish for it. A wish never plays anything on its own. Wishes wait for you at the top of Add music in the grown-up area, where you can add one with a tap. Wishes stay on the device.
How does bedtime work?
On the song card, your kid holds the yellow play button and slides to the moon, then taps Start bedtime. When the time you chose is up, the song that’s playing finishes and the music stops. Only a grown-up can turn bedtime off. In the grown-up area, Bedtime sets the length (10, 20, 30 or 45 minutes) or turns it off.
Can a song play on repeat?
Yes. Hold the yellow play button and slide to Loop. The song repeats until another song starts. Loop is off while bedtime is on.
Where is everything saved?
On the device. Riiiff has no account of its own and doesn’t sync between devices, so set up music on the device your kid uses. Deleting the app deletes its library and settings.
How do I leave the waitlist?
Email jcsizmadi@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and we’ll remove it. We send the waitlist one email, when Riiiff launches, and then delete the list.
